Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This year I am trying to add more exploration and hands on labs. The materials in this project will do just that for my units on Electricity and Magnetism in my Physics classes. These materials will be used in order to allow students to explore concepts and Learning Objectives associated with electricity and magnetism. Students will use confetti, charging rods, balloons, pom poms, streamers and other materials to explore how static electricity is generated. Students will explore phenomena related to how electricity flows between objects, and how it is 'created'. Students will also be able to use the magnets to explore the connection in electricity and magnetism and generate current in the wire, which supports students understandings of how electricity is generated from wind and water sources in the real world. Students will also explore phenomena concerning magnetism with the magnet kids, and use the static electricity items to induce a magnetic field. Students will visualize magnetic and electric fields using the metal filings and confetti as well. I am excited to add hands on STEAM activities to these units this year through your kind donations!
