This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever been excited about playing with a new toy, but after you tear up the wrapping you come to find out you can't because it needs batteries? This has been happening to my students when we get ready to use our wireless listening center.

I teach a fourth grade group of children.

Our school is located in a high need, low income community where English is not the dominant language for most of our students. My students love to listen to stories and although I would love to read to them ALL day, it is impossible. Our listening center is a very important component of our literacy block. My second language learners can continue listening to a story as I work with another group. They love to be independent readers, the listening center is giving them some of the tools for them to become independent readers.

My Project

These resources will increase the amount of time my students spend during their independent group time. As well as reduce the amount of frustration they feel when the batteries to our wireless headphones die. They will also be able to have two sets of rechargeable batteries so that one set dies they can replace with another. My students chose the rechargeable batteries because they want to contribute to the saving of our planet.

Your donations to our project will enable us to ALWAYS have available and charged batteries for the students to be able to have workable headphones at all times.

It will improve the independence and reading abilities of my second language learners.
