This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project will utilize the novel Hoot by Carl Hiaasen as a text for in-depth character study and plot analysis with a focus on the themes of environmental conservation, friendship, and moral decision-making. By examining the characters' development and analyzing the story's structure, students will develop skills in literary analysis, critical thinking, and empathy.

This project not only aims to develop critical thinking and reading comprehension but also encourages empathy and reflection on personal values through a book study of Hoot.

To engage students in exploring character development, including understanding characters’ motivations, actions, and growth, we will read Hoot together. We will analyze the plot structure, identifying key events and understanding how they contribute to the story’s central themes. This will foster discussions about moral dilemmas, environmental issues, and the importance of standing up for what is right.

Through character study and plot analysis, they will explore the impact of individual actions on larger issues, fostering a sense of responsibility and awareness of their own role in society and the environment.
