My Students

The curious third grade readers are craving books. The boys and girls have a thirst and yearning for current chapter books.

This is a classroom of children that are attending an urban public school in Southern California.

The boys and girls are motivated to read. They are making many trips to our classroom library to exchange and choose new books. The children like to read a variety of books including mysteries, biographies, poetry, and joke books.

My Project

New chapter books will give more opportunities for children to read. The children are motivated to read when they find a book of their interest. The move from reading picture books to chapter books begin in early elementary grades. Higher level vocabulary in chapter books support their overall learning in the classroom.

The boys and girls have an appetite for reading.

They need to practice reading to improve their reading. When they have a choice of new fresh books to read, the practice of reading become a pleasure of reading. And students that are confident readers are successful in school.
