Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"When students are using technology as a tool or a support for communicating with others, they are in an active role rather than the passive role of recipient of information transmitted by a teacher, textbook, or broadcast." Technology and Education Reform http://www2.ed.gov

Students at our school come from very diverse homes.

Many students travel long distances to attend this school, and parents make tremendous efforts to have their children benefit from the curriculum offered. Plenty carpool, others use public transportation, and some even walk to school. This particular fifth grade class is energetic, charismatic, and more than anything - smart. It is through the art integrated curriculum that students are able to both learn and express their learning in many different ways - as different as each fifth grader is.

My Project

Our fifth grade class, including parents and guardians, have been working tirelessly to help us teachers get access to basic technology tools. But it is time to reach even farther by asking for the generosity of people who believe that effective education is what children need to succeed. Many of us can remember that ONE teacher who made a difference in our lives, who understood who we really were as individuals and not a simple number in a roster. As a teacher, I believe our students can and will succeed when given the tools they need to reach their goals. And this time, the tool is simply technology.

In today's world, technology is everywhere.

Some developing countries may lack roads, but technology seems to surpass what once were considered basic needs. Our fifth grade class would like nothing more that to have access to a computer and a projector to make our hands-on-curriculum come to life. Thank you in advance for your generosity, support, and for believing that education is still a basic human right.
