This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My school was awarded a new grant this winter to teach students in grades 4-5 how to play basketball. The grant was awarded to fund a coach only.

We unfortunately do not have any additional funds to purchase the necessary equipment for success.

The equipment would be used to support the learning and love of basketball. We need new basketballs that are not warped or to big for youth players. We also need jerseys to help when playing in house games and we could benefit from cones to support dribbling and passing drills.

My goal is to teach 3-5th graders the rules and fundamentals of basketball to form a love for the sport as well as give them the chance to try out for competitive basketball when they reach the middle school level. With your help, our goal could be met!
