Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

1 in 5 children in San Diego County struggle with food insecurity. Food insecurity makes it extremely difficult for our students to focus and concentrate. Sometimes our transitional students can't make it to school on time for breakfast. Schools can sometimes be the only place where students receive sustenance due to a lack of food at home. This can make weekends especially difficult for kiddos as they go long periods of time without any food.

We plan on addressing this by creating the Challenger Snack Shuttle!

A fully self-sustainable on-site food pantry dedicated to feeding our children. Food will be available so that kids can come pick up a snack if they are hungry or miss breakfast. It is also a resource for our kids to be able to take a snack to eat later at home. We have people who are happy to help, we just need some food to stock up and a place to put it! Please consider donating to our pantry because we cannot feed a mind when the stomach is empty.
