Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The items I’m requesting for the themed attendance and grade challenges will make a significant difference by creating a fun and motivating environment that encourages my students to stay engaged and invested in their education. The rewards, tied to themes like 90’s throwbacks, movie nights, superhero days, and Candy Land, add a layer of excitement and celebration for reaching attendance and academic goals. These themes offer opportunities for creativity, collaboration, and relationship building, helping to foster a strong sense of community in the classroom.

My primary goal for this project is to improve attendance and academic performance by inspiring students to consistently show up and give their best effort.

By framing these goals within engaging and culturally resonant themes, I aim to make learning feel more rewarding and accessible while promoting positive habits like punctuality, perseverance, and teamwork.

What makes my students special is their resilience, creativity, and ability to thrive despite the systemic challenges they face. Living and learning in the South Bronx, they bring diverse experiences, perspectives, and talents into the classroom. They deserve opportunities to celebrate their achievements and be recognized for their hard work in ways that feel meaningful to them. These challenges and rewards aren’t just about attendance and grades—they’re about making school a place they want to be and helping them realize their potential.
