My kids need to move out of the stone age, we need a dry- erase whiteboard for class! I am a 4th grade teacher in an inner city Title 1(high poverty) school. Our school focuses teaching every student regardless of the situation. Our kids don't get to use the latest technology, and it makes them feel unimportant and useless. In today's business world, every presentation is either done on PowerPoint or an interactive whiteboard. Every conference room usually has at least a dry erase whiteboard for relaying information that is easy to read and remember. Our school can't afford to buy whiteboards or projectors, so we use the old-school chalkboards and chalk. This is fine on some occasions, but a dry erase whiteboard that is portable, can be set up and used in any area of the room and is more efficient and useful. I want to prepare my students for the real world, and I believe this would help me do that. Chalkboards aren't used anymore as a norm. By continuing to use them in a high poverty school sends the wrong message to these kids. Something simple like a whiteboard will make them feel important and get them even more motivated to learn interactively. Research has proven that using old methods on today's students is ineffective. My kids are dying to be introduced to newer ways of learning. By donating to our class, you will be preparing the next generation of leaders today. You will be showing these kids that they ARE important. You will be making a tangible difference in the lives of 25 students right now. How many people can say they have done that? You can.
