Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our kindergarten classroom is full of energetic lively students! I want my students to be confident and independent by the end of the year. My biggest challenge getting them there is not having the resources such as centers to give them that opportunity.

My students come from a low income, high need district in the Bronx.

They are comprised of bilingual and special students. They are energetic and lively. They love to talk and share with others. Many of our students need extra time to process and learn information. They need time to manipulate and talk through their learning. We require a lot of small group work to achieve this type of learning. Our school is a safe place where everyone is encouraged to become leaders. We strive for our students to learn how to be productive citizens in our community!

My Project

My students will be able to achieve independent learning by learning to work in centers while the teacher works with small groups. Center time will allow students to work independently or in pairs to strengthen their learning in math and literacy. Center time will allow them to manipulate and work through problems by using visuals to help them. My students need math and literacy centers to support our curriculum.

As a kindergarten teacher, I love seeing their growth from September through June.

They learn to be independent and proactive in their own learning. Your donation will allow my students to continue working on being independent learners.
