Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach special education students K-2 grade. All most students are at least 2-3 years behind in their academics. They have serious speech and comprehension problems. I work in a community with a high poverty level. I will say that at least 90% of the families are immigrants that work hard to provide for their children while learning English. Many of my students are English Language Learners that struggle to learn both the English language as well as reading, writing, math, science and social studies.

My Project

I am requesting Number Tactile match ups to help my students recognize number as well as learn how to count. The number sequencing trains will help my students to recognize numbers and put them in the correct order. Touching the pieces will help my students to remember the numbers better than just seeing them in print. I am also requesting reading skills centers to help my students identity letters and learn how to read. These centers will help my students learn while having a good time. They will not feel bored when asked to practice skills that may be boring or monotonous. Please help my students learn the basic skills they need!
