My Students

I teach in a Title I, 3K-5 elementary school in Harlem, New York City. Our school is a small, progressive public school that emphasizes inquiry-based learning. My school is full of hands-on learners, eager to dive into learning!

My students are diverse, creative and imaginative learners, and absolutely ecstatic to be in school!

For some of my students, this is their first time in school due to the pandemic, but everyone is energetic and eager to learn new things! They enter the classroom each morning with a smile on their face, ready to face the day. They enjoy talking with each other and working in groups. It's very exciting to hear students discussing a topic and making discoveries as they work together and share their ideas. Even though we are in a small school with a limited budget, I want them to be able to try new things, investigate their own interests with classmates, and create a real love for learning. Together we are looking forward to a productive year!

My Project

My kindergarten classroom is filled with hands-on learners, eager to enter the classroom every single morning and learn! It's such a joy to see their smiling faces, even under masks, as they walk through the door every day. It's even better to see them engaged in learning and laughing with their peers in literacy centers. But I'd like to be able to provide them with more materials to better support them. While we do a lot of hands-on learning in our Kindergarten classroom, my students, especially my special education students, need help to strengthen their fine motor skills. What better way to do that than through engaging and fun literacy centers!

By donating to my project, you will help my students to increase their literacy and phonics fluency, as well as strengthen their fine motor skills.

The Teachers Pay Teachers gift card, laminating sheets, and velcro is so I can prep all literacy centers. The learning links, letter stamps, mini clothespins, bingo markers, and tweezers are all materials needed for the students to work on these activities in centers. The pencil cases and cart are needed to store all centers activities while not in use.

I've already seen how my students are engaged in learning through the use of literacy centers, and I'm looking forward to these additional materials to better support their learning!
