Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach at a large K - 8 urban school in a tough neighborhood. Poverty, violence, and sometimes hunger is challenging my kids every day. For many, school is the safe zone to learn and play.

My seventh-grade students really need added support of small group instruction to help fill in the gap in skills.

We know that COVID has left our students with big gaps in knowledge and skills. Most of them are at least 1-2 grade levels behind! I plan to use these supplies and the headphones to help create math centers so students can work with me and each other to practice skill that they are missing. The headphones will allow them to watch educational videos to support their learning, to do it at their own pace and to do it quietly without disturbing others around them. The plastic sleeves and markers will allow me to teach using center work and small groups.
