My Students

My students are in Kindergarten who come from a diverse background. We have many English Language learners and well as children with special needs. Not only are these students diverse in their socioeconomic status or cultural background but also in there learning styles. Many of my students are visual and kinesthetic learners who learn through hands-on and visual materials.

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom.

Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

Our school is a Title I school located in Brooklyn and all of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of our students live in shelters and temporary housing situations.

My Project

This year we were not allowed to ask for supplies. I have been buying and supplying but it is becoming difficult. We are running short on everyday items as well as center time items. Please help us be able to create our centers and have the everyday items we need.

Most of the items I asked for will help assist the children in self help activities.

They need to learn to wash and dry hands as well as blow their nose.

We also need to a new timer to use during our center time. The children need to learn how to transition. The dry erase markers and pencils will help in school and at home as well.
