Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are very hardworking 2nd graders and they love to be challenged. At times they become competitive with each other but they are eager to learn. They excel in the arts and sciences because these are the subjects that are hands-on.

Reading, (w)riting and (a)rithmitic, those were the 3R's being enforced when I was in school.

It used to be students would learn all of their subjects by looking at the teacher and listening to what she said then later copying it down. This is not the case anymore.

My Project

Today's students learn by interaction. They NEED hands-on experiences in all lessons. This is usually hard to do unless you are in a whole group activity. However, in centers the students are able to work independently and/or in groups with a hands-on activity. The center materials requested (word making tiles, punctuation help, reading comprehension using details, sentence activities, etc.) will give the students a chance to develop their literacy skills while working with tiles and word games.

The Sentence building, Punctuation using, Sight word making and Reading Comprehension with detail center materials requested will allow the students to "touch" their literacy program and greatly enhance their learning during our literacy period.
