This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My mission is to provide a challenging curriculum where academic excellence and individual student growth is considered to be of the upmost importance. With the integration of differentiated instruction, my students will be able to take an active role in their learning.

Students learn best when working in collaborative groups.

My students love learning in new "out of the box" ways. These kits will definitely assist with that. No amount is too little. Any amount you are willing to donate will help our class approach our goal!

My Project

It is crucial that we get students reading fluently. We work on phonics daily, but where I struggle to reach them is during our Differentiated Instruction time of the day. This time of the day is also known as centers, where the kids are broken up into groups to complete and practice strategies aligned with our standards at their own independent level.

This daily math fluency kit will help my first graders with their math fluency.

Studies have shown that math fluency is an issue with many students today. This kit will give my students the opportunity to work in centers on their fluency. Once my students are fluent with their addition, subtraction, math concepts will be easier for them. If a child does not know his or her basic facts, it makes teaching the more challenging concepts almost impossible, I am hopeful this will assist in not having students need to use their fingers to add and subtract. This kit will increase their math fluency and level of success.

The centers will make a tremendous impact on their excitement in the school environment and will make up the deficits they cannot achieve either at home or in their general education settings. This will also provide mirrored exposure, that exists in their classroom setting, but typically they typically struggle with in their general education setting.
