This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Hello. Thank you for taking the time to look at our page. I currently teach 9th and 10th grade Spanish, and every year we make ofrendas which are altars for the Day of the Dead. It's a great way for students to learn about culture and celebrate their loved ones who have passed.

Every year, we also have a big celebration in which students share their ofrendas/altars with the entire school, and we make a special day celebration out of it.

With your help, we can achieve our goal of having all students make an ofrenda to honor their loved ones in celebration. Every year, the ofrendas have turned out magnificently, and I know, with your help, we can do it again.

In order for to make this happen, we need supplies which, unfortunately, I am not able to provide for the students this year. As much I would like to do it, I just can't, and we are asking for your help.

The tissue paper will be used to make papel picado and cempasuchil flowers, the paint and brushes to color the ofrenda/altar, and the string and other materials will be used to decorade the ofrenda. WIth the right tools at hand, I know the students will be able to succeed and reach their completion goal.
