Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Rain or shine, my students would make their way to school each day to practice the skills needed to succeed in our ever-changing world.

My diverse batch of kindergarten scholars are part of an ICT, or Integrated Co-Teaching, class in a​ NYC public school.

We are part of a high poverty, multi-cultural community in the South Bronx.

The majority of our student population comes from low-income families and/or temporary housing. Despite some of their challenges, these students come to school daily with smiles on their faces, eager to learn the various lessons that await them, but they need additional resources and educational experiences to enhance their learning.

My Project

Our kindergarteners faced a new year of learning experiences that was unlike prior years. Students were challenged with school re-openings and closures and engaged in various digital activities to support their learning through their year in kindergarten. For this project, I am requesting materials to help celebrate our kindergarten classes, and the students' accomplishments and perseverance. I have requested masks and sanitizers to help our students stay safe and healthy. Snacks would help supply our students with a light treat, as the requested art kits help supply our young learners with unplugged, non-digital activities to engage their imaginations. Workbooks and a book for each child were requested to support summer learning as our students get ready to transition into their next level of learning.
