My Students
First grade is a very fun place to be! My students are creative, curious, silly, thoughtful, hardworking learners. We like learn through hands-on, interactive and engaging projects that challenge us to think outside the box, while also trying to integrate technology into our everyday routine to prepare to be 21st Century learners.
Not everyone learns the same and being able to provided different materials and tasks that will reach every students learning style will allow them to reach their full potential.
My Project
Each month in first grade we have a celebration. During our celebrations, we give certificates away from completing math and reading homework. Students bring home a book each night and return to school the next day with their folder signed by their parents for completing their homework. If the students come back to school the next day with their folder signed, they earn a sticker on our homework chart. Students are allowed one free assignment each month. At the end of the month, students who have done their homework receive a certificate and get to pick a prize from our prize box. We need more reward prizes such as bracelets for our prize box.
We also choose three students, one from each first grade class, to receive the Top Banana Award.
This student is chosen by their teacher for being responsible, being respectful, being kind and working hard. All month long we also give out tickets for catching students doing the right thing, being on task, being good friends, working hard, and being respectful.
During our celebrations we also celebrate all student birthdays that occurred during the month. Each student gets a birthday pencil, eraser and we sing to them.
Our monthly celebrations motivate our students to work hard and be rewarded for their hard work. We are quickly running out of prizes for our end of the month celebrations. We need your help to keep our students motivated and to celebrate their success!
