Our students live in the most diverse borough in New York City. Our school is located in the heart of the biggest Chinatown in the city as well. When the Lunar New Year season comes around, Flushing, Queens is quite a spectacular sight!
Many of our families celebrate the Lunar New Year and our classroom should represent what our students' homes look like.
I am requesting decoration and materials to conduct a family engagement event for children and their families to join us in our classroom after school to create their own red envelopes to decorate and take home in time for the celebration.
Our classroom should become both a window to look into others' cultures also a mirror as a reflection of their own. Your support will allow our families to see a classroom become an inviting space where their cultures, traditions, and holidays are celebrated
