My Students

The transition to remote learning has been a tricky one for my kindergarten students. It breaks my heart thinking of them all hugging each other and saying goodbye on the last day of school in March. At first, it was impossible to think about how kindergarten learning was going to look on the computer. However, after a few short weeks of everyone working hard together, they are really starting to get the hang of it. They are doing such a great job becoming even stronger readers, writers, mathematicians, and friends as they continue to learn from home.

In just a few short days, my kindergarten students will be having their first author celebration from home!

They have been writing "How To" books and they are very proud to share their work. However, as we transition to the next writing unit, I worry that the children are starting to run out of some the essentials they need to be authors. It is my hope that this project will give my students the materials they need to continue growing into the wonderful authors that they are.

My Project

Little authors need the same materials at home as in the classroom in order to keep writing their amazing pieces. They will use the pencils, paper, and art supples to dive into our next writing unit. The unit teaches persuasive writing and how to be the kind of writers that change the world! The materials will help them create a variety of books, posters, speeches, petitions, songs, and so much more in order to see how their persuasion can change the world! My hope is that these materials reach them just shortly after their first author celebration from home--just in time to start a new unit!
