My Project

Our community is small, but mighty. We are a Title I, Equity Focused school in North Florida. 100% of our students receive free lunch. So, we are hosting several events this year that celebrate literacy and connect families with support and resources to improve literacy within our community.

Our next event is called The Reading, where children from our school and community will create original works of art and literacy, including poetry, stories, etc.

Middle school students will put together a program and assembly for friends, family, and community members to attend. They will also put together favor bags for each person in attendance to take home with them. These bags will include literacy support resources in our area, a thank you card for their time invested, and a memento to remind them of our school (Mustangs are our school mascot) and its mission to support and increase literacy in our area!

At the assembly, 2 to 3 students from each class, across every grade prek-8th, will have been chosen to frame and present their work live. Once every student has performed their original piece, the works will be displayed around the room and attendees will be encouraged to explore the many different works. This will encourage them to read and celebrate reading!
