My Students

Gardening is a great way to get kids interested in science at a young age. We are very fortunate at our school to have a small garden that students can visit and care for. But we need supplies. Let's celebrate Earth Day with some new science materials! Thank you!

Our kids are brilliant and they deserve excellent educational resources.

Approximately 65% of our students are African American, 29% are Hispanic, and the remaining 5% is made up of Asian (Pakistani, Ethiopian, Filipino) and Anglo American students. Because we are a full Title I school, a vast majority of our students qualify for free or reduced lunches. Our students may lack the material privileges that other American children are fortunate to have, but they certainly make up for it with talent, fortitude, and sheer intelligence. We live in a world where our youth are simply not provided with enough quality resources to shine; your donation will make the dream of a bright future come true.

My Project

I've included in this request a variety of tools that the students can use to explore scientific concepts. There are tools to be used to measure the weather (e.g., a barometer) and tools to explore soil composition (e.g., soil sifters). I've included a selection of books that discuss topics related to our gardening experiences; books about insects the kids see in the garden, books about plants, and others. And I've included some materials for studying the simple machines we use during gardening.

I teach my students that anything is possible if you put forth the best effort.

Your donation will help level the playing field and will give our students a chance to excel. Give the gift of a science education. Your donation will be hugely appreciated!
