Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My preschool students are children who are three to five years of age. My school is in sunny San Pedro, California. The children from San Pedro come to school each morning ready to learn and grow. There's never a dull moment in our class; my students are busy bees moving from one interest area to another. They're eager to learn, explore, and experiment with the instructional materials and centers I set up for them. My students need instructional materials to help them grow in tolerance, multicultural awareness, diversity and pro-social skills.

My Project

My students need the Say Hello! Hardcover Book to celebrate diversity and find fun in language as they as they learn to say hello in Chinese, French, Spanish and many more languages. With the Book Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears: A West African Tale my students will be exposed to an African legend fostering multicultural awareness, this story is also, a resource to teach cause and effect. The book My Many Colored Days is a book that explores feelings, my students will learn about people's moods and emotions, fostering empathy. The Lakeshore Vocabulary Builder Books are a great tool to support my students with differing academic abilities, the children will be exposed to books that feature inviting photos and simple text that will help them with comprehension, vocabulary building and reading skills. My students need the purple and yellow help yourself book boxes to keep their multicultural books neat and organized. My students will use the Activity Scarfs as a prop when participating in various multicultural dances during music and movement time. The Lakeshore activity balls set will be a tool used by my students with differing abilities to help develop their large motor skills and to provide a variety of sensory experiences such as rolling, tossing and bouncing the balls. The Clear View storage boxes will be used by my students to store the Activity Scarfs and the small Activity Balls. The Lakeshore Purple Storage Trunk will be used by my students during clean up time to put away their multicultural dramatic play dress up clothes.
