Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are excelling in the remote learner game. They show up every day, they complete assignments and they show enthusiasm for our current and future projects. I enjoy seeing them engaged in our lessons as they actively participate in our rich group discussions. As we continue to embark on our new learning path of virtual learning, my goal for my students is to foster an environment where they feel encouraged to take risks and learn from mistakes without fear. I have a diverse classroom where students come from different economic backgrounds and I would like to provide a virtual classroom where they have equal access to resources that allow them to engage in new learning experiences.

My students are growing risk-takers who are doing their best to master a digital classroom and become fluent 21st Century learners on the road to becoming global collaborators.

My Project

I have always wondered how I could better celebrate diversity in the classroom. With everything that is projected on the news these days, I realize that there is no perfect way but just to begin! I want to provide my students with books, stories, and colorful resources that will help them celebrate diversity and develop a strong growth mindset. The books and printer will make a difference for students by allowing them to learn through stories, followed by rich and collaborative discussions. The printer will help me create colorful resources for them as I continue to prepare and distribute materials that go home during distance learning.

I want to make sure that we celebrate and highlight diversity through distance learning to continue building community in our class.

These books and resources will help students learn visually and allow them to make connections to contribute to our whole and small group discussions.
