My Project

My third-grade students are curious, compassionate, and eager to learn about the world around them. At this stage in their development, they are forming ideas about identity, fairness, and empathy. By introducing books that highlight diverse perspectives and experiences, we can foster a classroom environment that celebrates differences and promotes inclusivity. Reading about people from different cultures, abilities, and backgrounds helps children develop empathy, critical thinking skills, and a deeper understanding of the world. I am requesting a collection of books focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion, along with a mobile bookcase to store and display them. These books will feature characters from different backgrounds, cultures, abilities, and experiences, ensuring that every child in my class feels represented and valued. The mobile bookcase will make the books easily accessible, allowing students to explore them freely during independent reading time, group discussions, and literacy activities.

My students are a diverse and vibrant group of learners who bring unique backgrounds, talents, and perspectives to our classroom.

They are eager to learn and thrive when given opportunities to engage with meaningful and relevant literature. Many of them may not always see themselves reflected in the books they read, making this project even more essential. By providing them with books that affirm their identities and introduce them to new perspectives, we empower them to become thoughtful, kind, and inclusive individuals. This project will help create a more inclusive and enriching learning environment, ensuring that all students feel valued and inspired.
