Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our high school students hail from Queens, NY, one of the most diverse places in the world. Their rich multicultural backgrounds add great value to the overall academic and socio-emotional experience. Many of our students come from neighborhoods ravaged by poverty and violence. Yet, our scholars face each day with grit, determination and humor. Many will be the first in their families to graduate high school and/or go to college, an accomplishment that must be celebrated.

Because Covid has taken so much from this year's senior class (yearbook signing, senior trip, prom, etc.), we want to send them off on their post-secondary journey with a few special keepsakes to remind them of all they have overcome these past two academic years.

Please help us celebrate our graduating Class of 2021 and support our project.

My Project

Help me celebrate each graduate with memorable graduation keepsakes. Because they have lost out on every major senior activity due to the pandemic, we want to make this celebration extra special by presenting each graduate with gifts, some of which will be handmade. My team and I will be decorating and making 105 personalized gifts with the Cricut materials requested. Those tools will be used over and over again for future class projects to personalize birthday gifts for students, make tshirts and to teach students how to use the Cricut machine. This year, we will have 3 ceremonies on the campus lawn, which will require decorations, such as lawn signs and banners. Every swag bag will be filled with Class of 2021 keepsakes, and the tissue will go into each bag. Covid robbed our students of many of their senior year events, but it revealed the strength, resilience, and perseverance of this amazing group of young people. Help us reward and celebrate that.
