My students are kind, empathetic, and passionate readers who are accepting and supportive of each other. Our school community strives to be a safe and welcoming space for LGBTQIA students and families. To celebrate Pride Month this June, our middle school student leaders are planning a week-long schoolwide Pride Week.
To support Pride Week the library will host 2 Rainbow Book Clubs!
The students can choose between 2 exceptional LGBTQ books: Different Kinds of Fruit by Kyle Lukoff or You Should See Me in a Crown by Leah Johnson. Both of these books offer students a diverse reading experience and an opportunity to see their own identities reflected in the characters.
After they read the books, the students will participate in a student-led discussion. During Pride Week all the students will have the opportunity to meet the authors during virtual author visits!
