Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are energetic, thoughtful, and kind eager learners who rolled with the uncertainties of returning to school in person during the pandemic. Each day they showed kindness, determination, and wonder in ways that warm a teacher’s heart. Their dedication to learning, despite days when friends were absent due to COVID or the schedule swapped around, was astounding. They always wanted more opportunities to learn and grow and welcomed each challenge with grace and steadfast focus. From stories to biographies to art to music and dance performances, they energized the school and still asked for more. Together we explored aviation and engineering, and my wonderful class is almost ready to take flight to the next grade. I want to celebrate all they have accomplished, and the unique young people that they are.

Students will use the Fire Tablets to program and write code for our robots as they navigate a course, will use the water rockets to test out principles of flight and will participate in “everybody’s birthday day” with scratch art bookmarks and wristbands since pandemic restrictions and cases of COVID left students without the regular birthday recognition.

Beaker creatures are a chance for each child to be acknowledged for their hard work and collaboration during the year as they “hatch” a fictional friend and develop storylines around them. It would be my privilege to give my students these experiences.
