My Students

Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 60% of our students receiving free lunch. Our Brooklyn school is ethnically diverse. As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are diverse in their academics. All students come in with a need to feel welcomed and loved throughout the day. Our teachers are here to provide them with a second home and a sense of security as they enter the doors to our building and individual classrooms.

My Project

These materials will help my students be able to grasp concepts and build skills in mathematics. They will be able to use these tools to try out strategies and skills using a hands-on approach. The students will be more engaged in their learning. Some of our students are visual and kinesthetic learners and will benefit from the use of these tools. This kit provides the necessary tools to use when aligning lessons with the Common Core State Standards. Mathematics will no longer be an abstract concept to the students as these tools will make their learning more meaningful and realistic.
