My Students

Students who have arrived to the United States face many challenges. They are introduced to new cultures, foods, music, traditions, fashion, and a lot more! They need to learn English so that they can better communicate and learn, thus turning into butterflies from caterpillars.

My students are from all over the world.

They each come to the United States with a variety of background knowledge, and school experience. Some of them have never seen the snow, some have never been to a zoo, some have never seen so many trees. They each come to me to learn English. They also need to learn about our culture, traditions, and daily life. I need to help them transition into a whole new environment. Providing these students with reading, writing and verbal skills will help to facilitate and ease their transition into our school and community.

My Project

I am requesting materials to help my students learn English. I need to expose them to as much vocabulary as possible. However, it cannot be overwhelming. I need to acquire materials to help them read, write, listen, and speak. Having a variety of activities for them to do and learn will help them to learn English so that they can progress and learn. The items that I have requested are leveled readers and workbooks. ELL students need to read, write, listen, and speak. The books that I ordered will be used on a daily basis. The ELL students need these materials so that they can use higher order thinking. Simple memorization of vocabulary and grammar is not challenging, interesting, or thought provoking. The books that I requested will encourage discussions, writing, reading, and verbal skills. They will promote higher levels of thinking, and a challenging curriculum.

Teaching students who have come from all over the world will help all of the communities in the United States.

We need to educate as many young people as we can in order to build a strong country.
