My students are part of a PreK-3rd grade building in a high poverty, urban area.
My students have many obstacles to overcome in order to be successful in school.
I want to give them every possible advantage I can for them to reach their goals. I strive to provide a stable, nurturing, stimulating environment where my students can develop a love of learning and a desire to rise above any obstacles they may have. I am always looking for new ways that I can improve the learning environment for my students.
My Project
I have 19 students in my first grade classroom. Little learners can often mean a whole lot of germs! During many months of the year we see attendance decline because of illness.
I would love to offer an air purifier in my classroom to help alleviate some illness as well as eliminate allergens for many students who struggle with allergies and asthma.
Having quality air for my students to breathe will have a huge impact not only on student health but on their learning as well. Decreasing their chances of illness will increase student attendance and help our young learners to be successful!

An air purifier can efficiently purify indoor air by getting rid of harmful pollutants, such as dust, pollen, odor, and mold spores.
Studies have shown that reducing the indoor air pollutants has a positive effect on cognitive functions. Also, if students are healthier, they will have fewer missed days from school and will learn more.
