Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are talented and creative young artists who deserve access to high-quality materials to explore their artistic potential. "Catch a Rainbow" is a project designed to help them develop their skills in painting, color mixing, and observational drawing while fostering a love for nature and creativity.

Project Description:

Inspired by Gustav Klimt’s "Sunflowers", my students will create their own vibrant gardens using paints. They will learn about color theory by mixing primary colors to create secondary hues, just like catching a rainbow on paper. Through this hands-on experience, they will explore a variety of flower shapes and patterns while developing their observational drawing skills.

To document their artistic journey, students will create small booklets of flowers they observe and illustrate. Additionally, high-quality printed photos of real flowers will be used for reference and inspiration.

Materials Needed

- Paintbrushes (variety of sizes)

- Paint (primary colors and additional hues)

- Oaktag paper (for sturdy artwork)

- Tape (for mounting and displaying work)

- Copy paper (to create small booklets)

- Photo paper (for high-quality reference images)

- Printer ink (to print images for student use)

Impact:

Many of my students come from low-income backgrounds, and access to quality art materials is limited. By funding this project, you will provide them with essential tools to express their creativity, build confidence, and develop a deeper appreciation for art and nature. "Catch a Rainbow" will allow them to see themselves as artists and creators, sparking inspiration that extends beyond the classroom!

Thank you for considering our project. Your support will bring color and creativity to my students' learning experience!
