Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We have an outstanding school in a large urban area. The teachers here work tirelessly to bring engaging, fun activities to enhance our curriculum. Because of the numerous budget cuts, we have had to seek funding for the "extras" that the kids absolutely love.
Our students rock!
Even though we have over 1,000 elementary students, our school has a "family" feeling to it. The staff is great and works very hard to encourage the students to become successful members of society. Many of the students come from homes where many of their basic needs aren't met. We strive to give them the love and confidence they need to survive. Theirs is a difficult world, but we know that with enough help, love and guidance; they will have a bright future.
My Project
After attending the Next Generation Personal Finance workshop I will be able to witness state of the art materials available to help incorporate financial literacy into my curriculum.
It's imperative that students learn how to budget their monies properly and invest for their future!
When I offer "Financial Literacy" class to my students for the first time in our school's history, as an elective, the students will benefit from what I learned at the workshop to prepare them to be smart spenders and savers. Students need to learn how making smart choices about their finances has such a huge impact on their adult lives.
