Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As the economic crisis in our nation becomes more and more severe, families are forced to make decisions regarding how money is spent. When a family has to pay for heat, food, and rent, purchasing school supplies is often not the highest priority.

Our middle school has 1400 11-13 year olds eager to learn!

1/3 of our students are homeless and 100% receive free lunch. Although our students have many barriers like poverty, gangs and homelessness our students still strive to be the best. For the past three years our school (students) have proven not only are we dedicated but nothing will stop us! We have grown over 60 points on the CST. Our community is tight and are always willing to do more to contribute to our neighborhood.

My Project

Students will take ownership of their backpacks and school supplies. They will learn to organize their materials and take pride in their work. Currently many students are carrying those shoulder bags that do not hold all the materials necessary for all 6 subjects in school. Help our students reach higher goals by helping them "Carry Their Future."

When students are organized they do better in school and take pride in whatever they do.

Many times a simple backpack will help a student feel proud of what they are doing. Help them "Carry Their Future."
