This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Whole group learning in Kindergarten happens daily! Would you want your little one to sit on an old dingy carpet? When I began teaching Kindergarten at my school, I inherited a classroom rug. Though it gets cleaned every summer, over the years it has become, well not so fabulous.
My students beg me not to seat them on the stained or ripped squares.
They also always argue(fuss really) when we have "Free Square Friday" when they can sit where ever they want.
I would love for my new Kinders to be welcomed to school this fall with a brightly colored and fantastically new rug! Where they can enjoy whole group instruction without worrying about what they are sitting on!
More than half of students from low‑income households
