Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our community, many students face challenges related to mental health, whether it be anxiety, depression, or stress related to school and life circumstances. Unfortunately, many of them don't know where to turn for help or how to express their feelings. To combat this, we aim to empower our middle school students to become mental health advocates within the community by creating a service project that addresses these issues head-on.

Mental health issues are often misunderstood or ignored, especially in younger populations.

By involving middle school students in a service project that addresses mental health, we are not only empowering them to take an active role in their own well-being but also educating and fostering a culture of support within our community. This initiative will provide students with skills that promote resilience, self-awareness, and empathy, ultimately creating a stronger, more informed, and compassionate community.

This project will provide middle school students with a sense of purpose as they take action on an important societal issue, while also creating a ripple effect that helps to improve mental health awareness in the broader community. Through their efforts, they will be able to break down barriers to mental health discussions, reduce stigma, and offer tangible support to those in need.

We are requesting multiple mental health items to create gift baskets for the Cadence Care Network community. Cadence Care Network is a nonprofit agency focusing on the behavioral and emotional well-being of children and teenagers, as well as the treatment and placement of youth in compassionate and qualified foster care homes. These will include snacks, chocolate, fidgets, mental health informational forms, resource lists, and anxiety reducing items. These will help community members in need. These children are ones that have aged out of the foster care program.
