My Project

Career exploration is an important step in helping students with special needs fulfill long-term employment goals. This exploration can help our students connect to a path that is appealing, and fulfilling leading to a desired career. Career exploration is one way to find out about multiple career options. During the different phases of exploration, students will take part in a variety of activities that will assist in confirming their unique interests, skills, and talents.

In order to provide activities for students to discover their skills, interest, and preferences they need consistent routine exposure to guide various job opportunities.

In support of this endeavor, the students will need the following supplies: a mop set, a squeegee set, a clothes folder, and a bedding set for household chores and daily living. Calculators are also needed by the students to practice calculating money when purchasing, transacting, or negotiating items (such as interest, currency convergence, loss, and so on). A cash register is also needed by students to practice (cash and balance flow). Learning resources like Time flip charts and students' time practice, big time, and money learning resources students are also needed to inculcate time reading to the students. Waiter sets are also needed by learners to practice chore skills of serving or waiting. Roadside tool kits are also needed for the learners to practice auto mechanic jobs. A laminator is used to laminate students' worksheets and instructional materials.

Research has shown that students who have this knowledge and experience are better prepared for postsecondary schooling and/or career. The steps students take in career exploration can help guide them in making positive, well-informed educational and career decisions.
