Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are third through fifth graders who are full of energy. The students have adapted to the challenges thrown at them this past year and are not only surviving but thriving in this very different environment. My students come from very diverse backgrounds. They love reading diverse books, participating in maker space activities and STEM challenges, and are very curious. I have a large population of English language learners. They are eager to learn and enjoy every minute of it. They are all amazing kids!

Career Day is a much anticipated day in our school!

On Career Day, many professionals come to our school and make presentations to the students. Students have the opportunity to learn from people in our community and each class gets 4 visitors! Students involved in SGO partake in community service when they help plan career day and those on the student government not only act as tour guides but get to meet with the professionals, share a snack and have one on one conversations about different careers. To make this a success, the students are asking for snacks and drinks that they can share with professionals as they come in before the presentations. They are also asking for paper to make cards and one even came up with the idea to give them starbursts with a note that says we are bursting with appreciation because you are a star. Plates and cutlery are also needed for the light snack they will share together.
