This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are constantly asking young children, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" In our classroom, students frequently pretend, during dramatic play, that they are doctors, teachers, or pilots. I love to see their imaginations at work!

My Kindergarten students are amazing!

Our school day is very academic and challenging. They work hard and are very eager to learn. Many are English learners and most are living in poverty. They do incredibly well academically. My students especially love the hands on learning center time in our classroom, which includes dramatic play. It is so important for young students to have the opportunity to pretend and engage in activities that stimulate their imaginations.

My Project

The materials I am requesting will allow my students to imagine and dream. They will use the career costume kits to become doctors, race car drivers, scientists, dentists and more! By dressing in character and engaging in dramatic play, students will be able to develop vocabulary and oral language development skills. This will be especially beneficial to my students learning English. My plan is to highlight each career and introduce vocabulary related to each job. Students will then use the career costumes during hands on learning time.
