Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school community is committed to ensuring every student has the resources they need to thrive academically and personally. We have identified a critical need among our kindergarten to 5th-grade students and others who may face challenges accessing personal care and hygiene items. To address this, we have established a Care Closet in my class that supplies essential items such as feminine products, breakfast foods, lunch snacks, hygiene products, and more. This initiative aims to support students whose basic needs must be met for them to succeed in school.

My Care Closet has been a vital resource for our students, but sustaining it has become increasingly costly.

Over the past few years, we have reached 390 students, providing them with necessary items that contribute to their health, attendance, and self-esteem. However, with many families experiencing housing insecurity, food insecurity, and financial challenges, the demand for our services continues to grow.

With your help, I can continue this in my school. Whenever a student is hungry or needs supplies can come and grab what they need to succeed.
