Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At our school, our students come from diverse backgrounds, many facing economic hardships that impact their ability to thrive in school. Despite these challenges, they are bright, resilient, and eager to learn. However, some of our students lack access to basic essentials like hygiene products and winter essentials. These needs can create barriers to their education, affecting their confidence, focus, and overall well-being.

To support our students, we are creating a Care Closet—a resource where students can discreetly access essential items such as toiletries, deodorant, hygiene products, and winter gear.

By removing the stress of not having these basic needs met, we can help our students feel more comfortable and confident at school.

Having access to a Care Closet ensures that no student has to worry about basic hygiene or warm clothing, allowing them to focus on their education.

Your support will provide our students with dignity, comfort, and the tools they need to succeed. Every item stocked in our Care Closet will serve as a reminder to our students that their school community cares about them and is invested in their future. With your generosity, we can create an environment where every child at HGIS has the resources they need to focus on learning and achieving their potential.
