Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are wonderful, enthusiastic learners whom are just beginning their educational journey. They are excited to learn and explore and I am excited to lay a strong foundation for future learning. Our school is entering its second year, and we are growing quickly, so we need so much to help us continue our journey. Being in a low income area presents some challenges, but I know we will rise above them and make all of our supporters proud! I hope you will consider supporting my fantastic class and I as we embark on this exciting adventure.

My Project

Every family goes through their ups and downs. When our families are struggling, our students' academic progress is affected negatively. Their attendance falls and they miss out on not only instruction, but also important milestones and experiences. It is crucial to create a positive and nurturing environment.

We are asking for basic supplies to create a care closet, so that our students' families who are struggling with unemployment and homelessness will have access to supplies that will address their most basic needs.

My students need shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, combs, clothing, baby wipes, and diapers. We want our families to understand that we are always here to support them. Many of our students have infant brothers and sisters. With our care closet well stocked, essentials such as shampoo, soap, diapers and wipes will ensure that our struggling families are not stretching their resources too thin. With our students under less emotional stress, they will attend school more regularly and be able to focus on their instruction. That way, no matter how their lives might be at home, or in the shelter system, we know that school will remain a safe and comforting haven. Our care closet will be critical in providing that comfort. Moving forward we will maintain our closet through donations from our school and community, but this crucial project will get us started. Please help us achieve this important goal in caring for our students.
