My Project

A few weeks ago, our classroom was so fortunate to receive an abundance of items to start a grade level care closet. Students were overjoyed to not have to worry about basic needs such as after school snacks, can goods, under garments, lotion, soap, toothpaste, and numerous other items kids should not have to worry about having. Needless to say, these items went extremely fast.

I am thankful that so many children were able to receive items from the care closet.

As we enter the holiday season and winter months many of my students are in need of more of the same items. Over half of our 4th grade students are living with family members and riding public transportation. The blistering cold air leaves their skin extremely dry and uncomfortable. The snacks in this project will help alleviate some of the hunger. They use a lot of vaseline to keep their skin moisturized and that is one of the first items to go. Soap is another highly requested item from our care closet. I am hopeful that our project will be funded so that no child in or out of my classroom will experience food and hygiene insecurities.
