Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I'm excited to present a project from students in our Black Student Union outreach committee. Many student that frequent the restrooms have reflected and stated that classrooms would smell better and students would be more confident amongst their peers, if they have access to the supplies that they need.

Students have stated, "It can be a bit embarrassing sometimes to ask for necessities at school." All the items we have requested such as wipes, sanitary items and deodorant will all be combined for our student restrooms.

The goal of this project is to allow students to take care of their personal needs on their own breaks, without having to constantly ask. We believe having the care carts will give students the confidence necessary to be amongst their peers and perform academically.

One thing that I have been able to admire most about my students is that they do care for each other and desire to look out for each other in the smallest ways. It is my hope that students are able to create a little corner of sunshine for their peers that could enhance the productivity of their day. This will be a student ran project which will give students the opportunity to gain management skills also while supporting their community.
