Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Please help provide my students with white round cardboard circles so they may create looms and learn to weave circular designs. In years past this has been one of my fifth graders' favorite projects. We analyze works by artist Xenobia Bailey, discuss radial symmetry, and learn to build looms using the circular cardboard rounds. My students love working with yarn and creating interesting art pieces other than drawing and painting. Many students go on to weave other items at home using what they have learned. Last year a student created a winter hat using weaving techniques. Providing us with these cardboard rounds can help make this awesome weaving project come to life! Thanks for your support!
