My Project

What I love most about my students is their resilience, curiosity, and determination to succeed despite the challenges they face. Many of them come from immigrant, refugee, or English language learner (ELL) backgrounds, and they bring a rich diversity of experiences to the classroom. Their eagerness to learn, coupled with their perseverance in overcoming language barriers, makes them truly special. These students are not just learning science—they’re navigating a new culture, language, and school system, and their dedication to their education is inspiring.

The lab notebooks I'm requesting will make a significant difference in their learning by giving them a structured, consistent way to engage with scientific concepts.

These notebooks will allow students to organize their observations, record data, and reflect on their experiments, creating a hands-on learning experience that transcends language barriers. For ELL students, the visual nature of scientific diagrams and the process of writing down their observations in a personalized format will make it easier to grasp complex concepts. Lab notebooks also encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration, all essential skills for their academic and future professional success.

My goal for this project is to create an inclusive learning environment where all students, regardless of their language proficiency, can access and excel in science. By using these lab notebooks, I hope to foster a sense of ownership in their learning, helping them build confidence and independence in a subject that can often feel intimidating.

My students are special because they bring unique perspectives and an incredible work ethic to the classroom. They are driven, resilient, and always eager to learn despite the obstacles they may face. This project will give them the tools they need to succeed, while also supporting their growth as confident and capable learners.
