My students are high-achieving, motivated, and fun! Our school environment is smaller than most high schools, which means that students get to follow their passions. In general, the school is geared towards math and IT learning experiences but many students also express a love for the humanities.
This year, I am teaching the first yearbook and newspaper classes.
The students are incredibly excited by the opportunity to create publications for their peers and learn about the topic of journalism. It has been so much fun to see their engagement and energy poured into their assignments!
Currently, we only have access to one school camera. By adding more cameras to our supply, multiple students will be able to work on their stories simultaneously. My students don't mind sharing the one camera, but admittedly, it complicates our deadline schedule and is a major inconvenience. By helping to fund more resources, my students will be able to create more stories, and dig deeper into the subject of journalism as a whole.
The students are currently busy working on their first articles in both the school newspaper, The Tiger Byte, and yearbook, The Tiger's Den.
They're covering everything from school sports to individual classrooms. These students are busy investigating newsworthy happenings all over the school to highlight in both publications.
