My Project

The goal of this project is to build up our LC Buck Store for our Learning Connections Students to purchase incentives for their positive behavior and classroom choices that lead them in positive directions with their peers. This program is for Autistic students who struggle with Social Emotional skills and Executive Functioning skills to learn positive choices in the classroom lead to new relationships and friendships that they are working toward.

Students will earn LC Bucks for completing work and being able to apply planning/time management skills that they can use to buy the requested noise putty, snacks, candy, and other items from the store.

Our students come to us in 6th grade with expectations to jump into middle school. We have two assistants that work in the classroom helping to redirect and focus our students to complete work in class with teacher assistance. Students also learn in Social Learning class specifics related to the Zones of Regulation and how to self-regulate without the assistance of teachers.

The goal in 8th grade is to have students go into high school without the need for assistance. Our students will be able to self-advocate and meet the goals or expectations of their teachers within the new environment. The store paired with the LC Bucks are one of the tools that we use to help our students as they progress through our program at RRMS.
