Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a brand new Pre-K center that provides developmentally appropriate practices and a safe environment that is conducive for learning. Our mission is to provide opportunities for our students to learn and grow through authentic experiences that will build a solid foundation for their academic success. The program we provide our students, incorporates interactive activities, student-inquiry based lessons, and appropriate social/emotional experiences that target the holistic development of a preschooler.

Our school is located in a low-income area that strives to provide support to our students, as well as their families.

We are continuing to build relationships and incorporate the cultures of our students and their families into our everyday instruction.

My Project

The materials requested will make a tremendous impact on my students. The camera and photo printer will allow my students to capture learning experiences and create their own stories by taking pictures and forming their own books with the construction paper. My students will learn to build on their independence by taking their own pictures of experiences that are important to them rather then their teacher doing it for them. They will learn to share the equipment with one another. Along with taking photos, they will become their own authors and create stories with their pictures. They will be able to share their stories with their peers and motivate one another to become writers and photographers. This will prepare them and encourage them to continue to write in the upcoming grades.
